The Macalline Hub is a mixed-use, transit-oriented sustainable architecture located in the Qingpu district of Shanghai. The development spans an area of 560,000 m2, and it combines A-grade office spaces with a 120,000 m2 shopping mall. Located at the intersection of three metro lines connecting Shanghai and Suzhou, the Qinghub creates a new landmark in the city.
Our design concept for the Macalline Hub was to create a strong and elegant landmark that seamlessly integrates the office, retail, and TOD programs within a single gesture. We were inspired by the circle, which is modified and incorporated into the architecture to create a cohesive and visually stunning space.
The circular design of the Macalline Hub creates a harmonious and continuous flow between the different programs within the development. The shopping mall is seamlessly integrated with the office spaces, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. The central plaza serves as a gathering place for visitors and employees, and it connects the different elements of the development.
Central to the development is the plaza, envisioned as a vibrant hub of activity. This space bridges the various components of the Macalline Hub, from shopping to dining, work to relaxation, crafting a communal heart that pulses with life and energy. It’s here that the essence of sustainable urban living is truly realized, offering a place where people can gather, connect, and thrive.
